The Uganda national team (Uganda Cranes) will not participate in the on going March 2026 FIFA international break.

Uganda cranes were set to face Mauritania and Bahrain in the friendly matches in Turkey as earlier planned.

Due to the disruption of air travel around the neighbouring countries as a result of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the 2 matches had to be cancelled.

This answers the big question why coach Paul Put had not yet summoned his squad for this international break update.

" Of course every coach would love to have as much time possible to get to know his players, work with them and build a competitive side, so everytime an opportunity for that is not availed, it curtails preparations but there are very good reasons why Uganda won't be involved". Said National Teams Manager Paul Mukatabala as quotes from Daily Monitor

"I don't remember the last time we didn't utilize a FIFA window, so the fact we are opting for a pass on this one, has significant reasons behind it". Mukatabala added.

Uganda cranes are likely to get back in action in September for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, a continental showpiece which Uganda will host alongside her neighbors Kenya and Tanzania.

The international break with commenced on 23rd March will last until 31st.
