Uganda Premier League 2026/27: All Confirmed Transfers So Far

The 2026/27 Uganda Premier League transfer window is gathering pace, with several clubs already making significant moves to strengthen their squads ahead of the new campaign.

The defending champions Vipers SC, title contenders KCCA FC and SC Villa, Uganda Cup winners Kitara FC, and several other clubs have been active in the market, while newly promoted sides are also working to build squads capable of competing at the top level.

With the new season approaching, here is a breakdown of the confirmed transfers announced so far.

VIPERS SC: Champions Make Major Moves

Vipers SC have been among the busiest clubs in the early stages of the window as they prepare to defend their Uganda Premier League crown while also competing in the CAF Champions League and CECAFA Kagame Cup.

The Venoms have confirmed the arrival of six players:

• Farouq Miya - attacking midfielder, two year contract.

• Joel Sserunjogi – defensive midfielder, from KCCA FC, three-year contract.

• Jacques Mangoba – DR Congo defender, two-year contract.

• Nicholas Mwere – defender, from BUL FC, two-year contract on a free transfer.

• Loyce Marius Mbaba – Gabonese goalkeeper, two-year contract.

• Cesar Lobi Manzoki – Congolese striker, returning to Vipers on a two-year contract.

Sserunjogi's move represents one of the biggest domestic switches of the window, with the Uganda Cranes midfielder leaving KCCA after the expiry of his contract.

Mwere, meanwhile, joins after his contract with BUL expired, while Mbaba adds international experience to Vipers' goalkeeping department. The return of Manzoki and Farouq Miya are arguably the most eye-catching signings, bringing back a striker who previously established himself as one of the league's most feared forwards and a midfielder with over 23 goals in 79 apps for the Uganda Cranes.

KCCA FC: Cityzens Strengthen Across the Pitch

KCCA FC have also been active as new head coach Brian Ssenyondo begins reshaping the team for the 2026/27 campaign.

The confirmed arrivals include:

• Elvis Ngonde – midfielder.

• Charles Lwanga – forward, returning to KCCA.

• Maxwell Owachgiu – defender/midfielder, two-year contract.

• Yunus Sibira – defensive midfielder from Kitara FC, two-year contract.

The signing of Sibira is particularly significant after his impressive 2025/26 campaign with Kitara, where he made 29 league appearances and helped the Royals win the Uganda Cup.

Owachgiu also brings considerable experience after captaining Buhimba United Saints and previously leading Kitara. KCCA have also retained experienced defender Hassan Muhamud, who signed a one-year extension.

SC VILLA: Jogoos Build a Young, Ambitious Squad

SC Villa have made a strong start to their recruitment campaign, with the record champions bringing in four players.

The confirmed signings are:

• John Asiimwe – left winger from Express FC, three-year contract.

• Isaac Gumperom – striker from Young Elephants Academy, four-year contract.

• Steven “Pivot” Mugisha – midfielder from Kira United/Bulemeezi, four-year contract.

• Tonny “Zuzu” Asiku – attacking midfielder from Arua Airfield FC, four-year contract.

• Farouk "Musota" Matovu: Experienced center-back who joined from UPPC FC to bolster the defense

Asiimwe, just 17, became Villa's first signing of the window after impressing during his two seasons with Express FC.

Gumperom arrives after an outstanding FUFA Big League campaign with Young Elephants Academy, where he scored 17 goals and won the Golden Boot.

Mugisha adds defensive strength and leadership to the midfield, while Asiku provides creativity and attacking quality.

KITARA FC: Royals Reshape Squad for Domestic and Continental Football

Kitara FC are preparing for one of the biggest seasons in their history, with the Uganda Cup champions set to compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Royals have already confirmed several additions:

• Christopher Bonney – Ghanaian defender, two-year contract.

• Nicolas Kasozi - midfielder, two year contract

• Martin Kizza Lubwama – midfielder/attacker.

• Diego Minsi Ssemugera – midfielder/attacker.

• Jackson Ssembatya – midfielder.

• Joel Mutakubwa – goalkeeper, two-year contract.

• Jeromy Kirya – midfielder from BUL FC, two-year contract.

• Trevor Bbosa - midfielder, two year contract.

• Karrim Nduggwa - stricker, two year contract from BUL.

Bonney, formerly of Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, is the club's first foreign signing of the window and brings experience from Ghana and Tajikistan.

Mutakubwa returns to Uganda after a spell in Ethiopia and adds significant experience between the posts, including previous Uganda Cranes involvement.

Kirya also arrives from BUL as a free agent after the expiry of his contract.

Kitara have simultaneously released several players, including Muhammad Shaban, Yunus Sibira, who moved to KCCA FC.

ENTEBBE UPPC: Printers Add Experience

Entebbe UPPC have been active in strengthening their squad after an impressive debut campaign in the top flight.

Confirmed arrivals include:

• Swadik Moro – winger from Buhimba United Saints, two-year contract.

• Sharif Ssengendo – midfielder from KCCA FC.

• Ibrahim Mugulusi – attacking midfielder from BUL FC.

• Grant Matsiko – right-back from Vipers SC.

• Anwaru Mustafa Ntege – striker from Buhimba United Saints, two-year contract.

Matsiko brings UPL experience and was previously named in the league's Team of the Season. Mugulusi adds creativity to the midfield, while Ntege provides experience at the top level.

URA FC: Tax Collectors Begin Rebuild

URA FC have also started strengthening under new head coach Jimmy Kintu.

The confirmed additions include:

• Muhammad Kyeyune – winger from Entebbe UPPC, three-year contract.

• Marvin Nyanzi - midfielder from Express, two year contract

Kyeyune arrives after recording two goals and three assists for Entebbe UPPC during the 2025/26 season.

KIGEZI HOMEBOYZ: Historic UPL Debut

Newly promoted Kigezi HomeBoyz are preparing for their first-ever Uganda Premier League campaign and have begun adding top-flight experience to their squad.

Confirmed arrivals:

• Benjamin Gakumba – central defender from Express FC, two-year contract.

• Norman Angufindru – goalkeeper from SC Villa, two-year contract.

Gakumba became the club's first signing of the window after leaving Express FC as a free agent.

Angufindru subsequently joined the Gorillas following the expiry of his contract at SC Villa.

NTUGASAZE FC: Newcomers Strengthen Their Attack

Another promoted side, Ntugasaze FC, have moved quickly to strengthen their attack ahead of their first-ever UPL campaign.

The Brewers have confirmed:

• Jimmy Ndalambi – forward from Kiyinda Boys, two-year contract.

• Tevin Kevin Kyeyune – forward, two-year contract.

Ndalambi scored 15 goals for Kiyinda Boys in the FUFA Big League last season, while Kyeyune brings previous UPL experience from NEC FC and Wakiso Giants.

The Biggest Moves So Far

Several transfers stand out from the opening weeks of the window.

⭐ Cesar Manzoki – Vipers SC

The return of the Congolese striker to Kitende is one of the biggest stories of the window. Vipers are bringing back a proven UPL goalscorer as they prepare for another demanding domestic and continental campaign.

⭐ Joel Sserunjogi – Vipers SC

The Uganda Cranes midfielder's move from KCCA to the champions gives Vipers additional quality and experience in midfield.

⭐ Yunus Sibira – KCCA FC

Sibira's move from Kitara to KCCA gives the Cityzens a combative midfielder who played a major role in Kitara's successful 2025/26 campaign.

⭐ Christopher Bonney – Kitara FC

The arrival of the Ghanaian defender represents Kitara's growing ambition as they prepare for continental football.

⭐ Isaac Gumperom – SC Villa

The 17-goal FUFA Big League Golden Boot winner could become one of the most closely watched new attackers in the UPL.

⭐ Farouq Miya

He comes back to Vipers with experience from Europe. He will add loads of goals and technique into this Vipers midfield.

What the Transfer Window Is Telling Us

The early business suggests that Uganda's top clubs are increasingly looking beyond simply signing established UPL names.

Vipers are combining proven domestic quality with international experience. KCCA are strengthening key positions around a new coaching regime, while SC Villa are investing heavily in younger Ugandan talent.

Kitara, meanwhile, are building a squad capable of handling the additional demands of continental football, while Entebbe UPPC are looking to consolidate their position after an impressive first season in the top flight.

For the newly promoted Kigezi HomeBoyz and Ntugasaze, recruitment will be crucial as they attempt to avoid the difficulties that often face first-time UPL participants.

With the transfer window still open, more moves are expected before the start of the 2026/27 campaign. FUFA's club licensing process has already confirmed several clubs as meeting the required standards, with the new season scheduled to begin later in August.
